Our Pest Control Practices

At Emerald Twist, we are committed to all-natural and effective pest control methods that ensure the health of our plants while prioritizing natural and organic solutions. Our pest management strategies evolve based on the plant’s growth stage, always striving to use biological controls as our first line of defense.
While we emphasize natural pest control, early growth stages are performed indoors and sometimes require additional measures. In such cases, we use only OMRI-listed (Organic Materials Review Institute) products that are approved by the Washington Department of Agriculture for cannabis cultivation. To maintain the purity of our flowers, we only use biological controls during the flowering stage.
Pest Control by Plant Stage

Mother Plant (Source for Clones) and Early Vegetative Stage (Indoor Growth: March–May)
-
Biological control with Nemayas – Live nematodes applied to the soil to combat fungus gnat larvae and other soil pests.
-
Biological control with persimilis & andersoni – Beneficial predatory mites that target two-spotted spider mites and russet mites.
-
Trifecta Plant Spray – A plant-based essential oil spray (OMRI-listed and Washington-approved) used only when biological controls prove insufficient.
Mid to Late Vegetative Stage (Outdoor Growth) and Flowering Stage (Bud Development)
-
Biological control with persimilis & andersoni – Beneficial predatory mites that target two-spotted spider mites and russet mites.
-
Biological control with stethorus – Tiny beetles that naturally prey on spider mites.
By implementing these strategic pest management practices, we maintain the highest standards of quality while staying true to our commitment to sustainable agriculture.
